Not far from Bolton Priory ruins you can visit Barden Tower as well. Barden means 'the valley of the wild boar' in Anglo Saxon, so not surprisingly, this was a hunting lodge back in the 1400s and 1500s. It was the principle seat of administration for Barden hunting forest.
